Well, it's linux, so you just *know* that you are going to be *messing*
with it. With Gentoo, at least you have pretty good instructions and
the wonderful 'emerge' system.
It may be worth giving KnoppMyth and/or one of the 'friendly' distros like Kubuntu etc., a chance first.
