Hello,
Trying to get external scripts to work with NSClient++ via NRPE. I
got it working using [NRPE Handlers] but that's deprecated per the
documentation. Here's my config:

CheckSystem.dll

I use the WMI checks since it requires less work on the end machine,
nsclient required me to login and install software on like 300
machines.
What are you running nagios on? Linux(flavor) or windows?

Can anybody recommend an MSI editor, I would like to add the IP address of
the server before I send the client MSI out, if I have to purchase one I do
not mind.

hi all
I use NSClient++-Win32(NSClient++-Win32-0.3.5) to monitor three Windows OS
servers.
I can see all services are OK in Nagios server.
but I find that NSClient++.exe occupy more and more memory very slowly in all

so I test NSClient++ in my pc

Hrm, sorry to waste anyone's time, it seems by adding the IP of the server
to the allowed hosts worked. Thanks!

Hi, new to Nagios, so if something is blatant, forgive me :-).
I am trying to monitor a Vista machine with NSClient++ (latest version). The
client is started on the machine, but nagios cannot access it. Windows

You can try NC_NEt.
it also uses check_nt so no need to reconfigure Nagios,
the client configuration should only consist of setting up the port in
setup.cfg.
Check_nc_net has additional commands

Well, just started with Nagios, and I am using one of the windows.cfg
templates with NSClient++ installed on the Windows Server 2008x64 boxes.

I can only seem to get monitoring working for WinXP but not Windows 2008. The
same
config file should work on both, but Nagios suggests "CRITICAL - Socket timeout
after 20
seconds". This error returns many hits but I haven't found a solution for my
scenario yet.
I have set the plugin timeout to
Discovered when putting in "allowed hosts" on the NSCA server, you can't
have a space. I deleted the space and it worked like a charm.

Hi,
The error is as far as I can tell that the data sent from the NSCA
server (when initializing) was either to long or (perhaps more likely)
to short.
In this case my guess would be that someone "closed" the connection when
"it" were waiting for the data to be sent.
Why that would be I am not
I'm so far unable to get this one figured out. No abnormal logs on the
Nagios server but I get this on the client side:

Any idea what that means. I just i

I have found Some XP systems do not have the _Total instance,
If you have trouble resolving NSClient you can upgrade to NSClinet++ or

Hi,

the Windows XP desktop:

"Connection closed by foreign host" really suggests that the connection
could be established, but NSClient closes it immediately. Check for a

The rest is just general networking troubleshooting, in case I'm wrong
on that.
First, a stupid question: you sa
Best way to debug this is:
1, runt: NSClient++ /test (after stopping the service) and see what happends.
2, enable debug logging and check the nsc.log file.

Hi people of the world :P
I'm just running the NSclient on a Windows machine. I got the default
configuration of the NSC.ini but I have an error in the nagios:
Connection refused
I modified the NSC.ini to run the client on the 12489 port, and I add the IP
of the nagios server on allowed host.
