Hi Techs,
I went to open a business checking acct at a different bank yesterday and was
told that I could NOT open a business checking acct because I wasn't
registered with the state of Ohio! I had brought my vendors lic. , but the
lady said that that only proves I pay taxes and that I had
Register with whom? I never heard of that, most banks will allow you to open a
business account as long as you have a EIN and your state license? Was this a
small bank?

with the state seal on it, (suitable for framing lol). Other than that I've
had no contact with the state since that time. We have to register our
In Illinois you have to register with the state and the county you practice in.
It is for your protection.

Hi Pam,
I'm only guessing here, but it sounds like the bank is asking for a DBA. It
stands for doing business as, and as the bank officer
tried to explain, it's protects you. Not just for the reasons they mentioned,
but what if someone else started using your business
name, and they were
IN PA you are required to file for a Ficticious Name if you are not a
corporation or if your Surname (Last name) isn't in the title of your
business. You will not be able to open a checking account without it. It
falls under the UCC Code. In PA it was $75 and yes it protects you,
however, it
Hi Pam
In Chicago, there are 3 steps to legally doing business .
1st. Registering your name (DBA~Doing Business As or AKA) its for you to assume
you legal business name.
2nd. Apply for a chicago business license
3rd. Register your business with the state.
Registering you business name
I think that's true if you are using your name and not a business name like
(Nails By Me).
In saying that, Pam are just using your name or are you setting up a business
account using a business name?

Hi All!
Some of you may have heard me voice this matter in the past, but it seems to
keep haunting me. As I was telling Athena and have received her input I would
like as many opinions as I can get, because I am having a meeting next week
with our salon owners and my co-worker. At our salon

Hope this helps. And yes, state board does trump manufacturer instructions.
Hope this

I'd definitely err on the side of the state board. They are going to give YOU
the fine not Murano. Here in CA we are supposed to be using disposable files.
Your co-worker is already in violation. I wouldn't listen to a word she says.

Hi Ruby,
Would love to give you some input, but wondering a few things first.
I'm not familiar with the Murano Pedi Chair.just looked it up online, and
am more confused than before about it. Does it work with
air jets instead of water jets? From what I could find online, it looked

Sue,
Thanks for answering. I too would like a win/win situation, but my co-worker
was very mad over the entire issue. She went to the owners because she and I
don't agree about cleaning the chair. This topic came up before and she just
blew me off. I went to her yesterday in a calm manner
Better to have cleaned it and not needed to... Than to need to and NOT have
cleaned it!
That's my motto with most things.
State Board always trumps and with hefty fines!
It would be better for your co-worker to adjust an additional 15 min. to her
Pedicure time slots. It won't cost her anything
Ruby,
It would be more of an inconvenience for her clients to get something from
not cleaning correctly. And your clients, too. You said her clients have
fungus. Well, there you go.
There is not much that upsets my stomach, but filthy, disgusting pedi tubs
does.
Print up the State Board info and
OOOPPSSS... filthy, dirty pedi tubs DO... LOL...

Thanks! I printed the state board code for her and the next day she gave me
the Muranos directions, and she told me that we need to go by Murano. I told
her that state board supersedes manufacters instructions. In fact, she also

If your state requires this, please do it. You just cannot put things aside

Hi Again.
I think you just found the key to answering your own dilemma
it sounds to me like your co-worker is telling you that she thinks her way of
cleaning the pedi chair is acceptable, and she doesn't want her schedule upset
so that she can work every hour on the hour.

Hello fellow techs!!!
I just a nice, shimmery no-chip mani on my mother using a Star Eco French kit.
