Net-snmp doesn't have transport layer for FQDN as trap receiver address

Hello, We have integrated net-snmp into our application that runs on an embedded system and uses net-snmp to send traps to user configured trap receivers. It works fine with the configured IP address as trap receivers. Now, we have enhanced our system so that users can configure FQDN as well

Upgrading Net-SNMP to 5.9 on Raspberry Pi OS (i.e. ARMHF Debian 10 Buster)?

So, Raspberry Pi OS, latest of this date, only has Net-SNMP 5.7.3 available in the official repository.  This works, but a few informational errors result, such as the given version still reports attempting to access the PCI bus, which Pi devices lack.    I have seen references to this issue

Thanks – but my question was regarding actually being the master agent and internally updating the net-snmp library with data received via a CLI. I believe the only way to do this is via the snmpd.conf file. So any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, From: Larry Hayes Sent

Hello Bart, Thank you for your reply. I did what you asked. I downloaded the perl-5.31.10 and recompiled it with my VS2005. Then I tried again to compile Net-SNMP (I used the latest version from GitHub) and I have the same errors (without the warning). I have attached the configure.out

Running net-snmp in a docker container ?

Is it possible to run net-snmp in a docker container and extend net-snmp mibs (e.g. add an enterprise mib) from an application process running either on the host or in another container ? Has anyone tried this ? We are thinking of using the MasterAgent/SubAgent net-snmp architecture

The next release candidate of Net-SNMP (5.9.rc2) is available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/net-snmp/files/net-snmp/5.9-pre-releases/ This is barely different from 5.8.1.rc1, but contains a 5.9 version number instead. There were too many API changes (though small) under the V5-8
