Yep, a general rule of thumb I learned at college was that if you accessed a
byte of data from memory, and it took one second, it would take over a week
to do the same from disk!!

For Freeserve his setting should be PAP. All of this can be simply entered in
kppp. There is no need to edit any files.
I've got a Freeserve account that I don't really use and thats how I connected.
