Any luck networking Linux and Win XP? I cant get the Linux box to log on on
dhcp. It will make a static connection at 192.168.0.1 but Win XP can not see
it. Neither machine can ping each other. Neither machine is running a
firewall.

Boot into Linux and make a boot disk. Make sure the boot disk works. Then
reinstall windows. Afterward, use the botdisk to get back into Linux. Then go
into the LiLo configuration and reinstall Lilo on your Master Boot Record.

and now I am having more problems. I had an old 10 GB hard drive which I
split between 98 and Linux. Now I got a 40Gb. I have the 40 split of into 20,

There are a couple of things you can do, first you can try using KLILO, its a
KDE form of changing the lilo configuation.
Or you could use DRAKBOOT, a file in DRAKCONF, that will configure LILO too,
