hough. It looks
like mandrake is doing the same thing redhat did w/ 7.0 and using a
development version of the gcc compiler. I didn't check to see if
mandrakes 2.96 could build the kernel (since redhat's 2.96 cannot). Oh
well, I installed 2.95.3 for my own development needs.

Hi..
Are you using kppp to connect or scripts??...If kppp did you go right
through the setup and check the modem etc??...When you connect using minicom do
you get the pppd garbage back..?? It might be you are not correctly logged in
to the server...

Subject: Re: [newbie] linux-modem...hell on earth
I had a similar problem with my BJC-5000. I think it has to do with the
printer. When I connected my HP Officejet, it printed like a champ. I
rebooted to DOS and tried to print from the DOS prompt and nothing came out.
My guess on the 5000 is that it is a win printer- similar to a win modem.

Title: Mandrake 7.0
I've
received the same message. Have tried two different PCI video cards (old
machine) and get the same message. Recommendation from another forum was
to usin "linux text" at the lilo prompt. Mandrake doesn't like your video
card. Haven't had time to get back to that
Am working with a customer who has purchased NetMax. Interesting product,
but the boxed product is based upon RH 5.2 with the 2.0 Kernel. They have
an updated available to the 2.2 kernel, but you have to have them send out
the CD. (Perhaps you can order direct from them). Looking at the instal
remove
and/or redirects -- but those options are not there with
the ?older? version of linuxconf included with Mandrake 6.0. Can
anyone direct me as to what files I must edit to configure this.
Thanks,
Ted
