I compiled the .mdk package of xine 0.9.6 to play .asf files. However, it keeps saying that the audiodriver (null) failed. I'm not sure where to start looking for a problem. All I know is, there is no sound. XMMS and Mplayer plays with sound, though. (although mplayer plays some .asf

I installed the mplayer-0.50-2mdk.i586.rpm using rpm -ivh file command, and it seemed to install properly, finally. (I don't know how to enable -gui using rpm, though :( but I'll make do with terminal mode as long as I get to watch my movies). .avi files run beautifully. .asf files,

I tried to install mplayer, but it warns me about using gcc-2.96 (which is the gcc version that comes with mandrake 8.1). Has anyone experienced forcing an install anyway? Were there a lot of bugs? I'm willing to downgrade to 2.95.x if it will help, but I can't seem to find it. All the sites
