I had this problem with my toshiba satellite, the problem arises from the bios
configuration, because the pcmcia was configured as automatic configuration,
I changed this and the computer start linux without any problem (7.2). Later
I have installed 8.0, 8.2 and now 9.0 and is runing actually
Today I installed Mandrake 9.0 on a Toshiba laptop.
Or I tried to, anyway.
I simply used the standard install CD's (downloaded
from the Mandrake site). They booted just fine, and
the install ran without a hitch.
I did get one message telling me that some of my
hardware required proprietary
