I'm off-base, but what is the point of a separate /root partition? It
seems that there should be no problem leaving /root as a part of /.
/root is the superuser's home directory. I make a /root partition for
the same reason I make a /home partition: If I have to reinstall or
something, I can
different
kernels, the size of which depending on how many you may wish to create and
save.

Hi Andy.
Hi.
I have used P.M. 4.0 to create a number of different partitioning
schemes without any problems (you don't say which version of PM you have,
maybe that has something to do with it).
I am unsure. I got it off the Internet (the link was posted to this
list). It wasn't anything
New development: I attempted to use PartitionMagic to make the Linux
partitions after the installer failed. I didn't get very far...
PartitionMagic reports a partition table error #120. Would someone with
a PartitionMagic manual tell me what that means adn how to correct it?
(1) I actually got the Internet to work in Linux! Yay! I tried IRC
chat a little bit, but no one cool was on... and no, I was not
logged in as root at the time.
(2) To fix a poor partition structure (/boot, [swap], and one huge /)
and a few other things (odd... shutting down
