[newbie] Mounting new drive

I have just inserted my new old 500mi drive, to hold my /home partition. Now, should I use ext2 or dos filesystem? If I use ext2, what is the correct format for fstab? If I just mount it to /home what will happen to the stuff in my /home partition now? I see a reformat looming. - Original
