the same problem with TightVNC from MDK91 cdrom - the solution that worked
for me was to upgrade the two qt3 rpms.

if he followed my instructions, he already did that:
vncviewer [IP of server]:1 -passwd /home/[username]/.vnc/passwd
i bet it's more of a networking prob than an X prob.
