specifying the newer version in the command line?

John I am running the same versions as you on my 9.1 system.
It is more apt that 1 are all of your gtk+2 rpms

Nah, could be that the D4X package is looking in the wrong place for
your GTK libs. It shouldn't be doing this

As a minor matter of interest to the developers of D4X.
D4X on reconnect only produces errors in download speeds it reports, and
I know this because I run gkrellm side by side to check. The problem does
not occure on first connect , only reconnect after a cutoff.
