find the files that install and they do not give me a clue what to do.
If any of you download this and install will you please help me step by
step? The download page for the thememanager tarball is
http://kde.themes.org/php/d
could you post the link to the tarball ?
thanks,

Dear All, I went to the KDE2 webpage and found the KDE thememanager in
tar form and downloaded. Now, I do not know how to untar and install.
That is something I have never been able to do yet. Cou
KDE2 does allow more customization, but I found it a bit disconcerting that
a nice user-level feature like the Theme Manager was removed. Was nice to
play around and see what happened with different themes. Also, seems many
folks thought this was a Mandrake lack in 7.2, as opposed to a change
e what happened to it. We'll have to

Adrian, Thank you for the information. I think someone on this list was
saying that, and how to do it should be explained soon. So there is a
place at the KDE2 website for converting? I will check that out. Thanks
for the info.

hey Marcia --
i am not completely up on the histroy of this thread, as i don't use KDE much i was
not paying attention =) but i seem to remember someone said the KDE 1.x themes do
not work at all with KDE 2 unless you "convert" them over, and there was something in
KDE 2 that would do this...
i miss this aspect myself...not sure what happened to it. We'll have to wait
and see what the answer is.

has answered. I , too, loved the way the thememanager worked in 7.0. I
am disappointed about the absence of it in 7.2. Was this an oversight?
Mike, how exactly did you install the themes you wanted? I am a newbie

I've up-graded to KDE 2.0 and am pleased with the performance it gives.
I've still to solve a few mysteries, however: (documentation seems to be a
mix of old and new version comments at this early date ...)

I've had nothing but problems after installing the download

Well I have one that's been frustrating me for awhile, everything installed

day, or 1.5 days) the machine starts grinding away at the hard drive. Stops
accepting all keyboard inputs and the display freezes. I can let
I managed to successfully install KDE2 over an installation of Mandrake 7.0.
Whenever I got a message of unsatisfied dependencies when trying to install
the KDE2 RPMs, I looked up the files and packages up at rpmfind.net and then
downloaded the latest Mandrake cooker versions.

Someone asked about kde 2. I have done some searching and it is under heacy
development so it won't be available for some time. Watch the skies...
