Yes
is there an overall volume control for the speakers, such
as that
other "OS" has? some of the sounds with flash, etc. can
be a bit
loud for an office environment *g*. it shouldn't be
relevant for
this, but i'm using 9.0.
thanks,
joe
Of course there is. Only the default KDE desktop does not put the icon in the
quickstart bar. Here is how to do it.
Open KDEMenu>Multimedia>Sound>Kmix
This will pull up the free standing mixer. Set the controls gow you like them
then
File>SaveCurrentVolumes as default
To get it iconised ,
is there an overall volume control for the speakers, such as that
other "OS" has? some of the sounds with flash, etc. can be a bit
loud for an office environment *g*. it shouldn't be relevant for
this, but i'm using 9.0.
thanks,
joe

there is a k>config>kde>sound>mixer dialog with a 'load volumes on login'

also a long winded way is to manually launch and dock kmix, logout with 'save
setting' and from then on as long you don't accidentally exit kmix before

You can always run aumix from the command prompt. I don't use KDE, so I can;t
tell where it is hidden in the menus...

Is there a volume control anywhere in KDE desktop? I hate to admit to
being used to the slider in windoze
