I had some problems like this with ext3 so I switched to reiserFS. So far 2
day so good.

I got this twice, as I was using linux and got a blackout. When I turned on
the system again, it gave me this message, then I wanted to repair the
errors. When the boot was complete, I got many erros. One of them, i couldnt
start X. Some /usr/bin commands where lost, and some other files where lost

If you experience power outs more often, I think that getting a UPS is
better than changing FS. I use EXT3 also, which has so far not failed
me. I am satisfied with it.

Mandrake 8.1 already supports ext3. The advantage of choosing it is that it
is a journalled file system, so no more fsck every nth boot, and less chance
of corrupted files if you manage to crash it / fall over the power lead / let
your laptop battery run down.

well since 8.1 supports it (and many others like XFS and ReiserFS) i assume
8.2 will. ;-)
the advantage is to have journaling, basically a diary for your disk, to
better protect you in a crash. search the archives of the list for a lot
