hi never used adsl but i do know there is a kisdn program to configure ur isdn modem and by extrapolation maybe there is a kadsl kind of package for u to do so with ur adsl modem. try a search on ur hard disk for adsl if that fails ..check out the howtos at www.linux.doc under documentation good

u guys probably got gmc on autostart (find and erase) OR most likely, u once ran gmc then quit kde with the option to save ur session as is so as to resume it next boot. u can 1. kill the gmc process (that should also kill the gnome icons) then save ur sessions 2. somewhere in the kde control
