I have a Compaq 1800T laptop. 1400/1050 screen with a ATI Mobility AGP(2)
16MB graphics card.
First time I installed LM8 the graphics worked at 1400!!! It was beautiful..
However, hitting ctrl-alt-F1 to go to console produced LCD frying, i.e.
nothing visible.
Reinstalled, worked again!
Hello.. Does anyone out there have Mandrake 7.2 on a Compaq 1800T?
I've got KDE running at 800/600... but that's all I can get after reading the
Linux-Laptop howto Kernel howto... even some Compaq 1800 specific helpiles.
Other people have done it...
The resolution goes up to 1400/1050.
the little K, then Run, then type kppp. Play around with kppp, there are
kppp and modem and internet how-tos. If you cannot "Query" the modem, and
the modem works in windows, then your ports are not set correctly.

There's a DOS utility from 3com used to set your Nic's IRQ's... U'll have to
search for it.
I think, you can go into Windows, make sure the nics are detected and set to
non-conflicting IRQ's, soft-reboot into Linux, and Linux should see the NIC's
at the same IRQ's as the Windows box did.
I
don't think my kernel doesn't support sound as other people with 7.2 said
sound worked after install.
I think I'm close since I heard sndconfig play .wav and midi on sb16. How
do then make OS use it? Is this because ALSA comes with 7.2 and doesn't
have SB16 listed in harddrake?
