I have a Vance & Hines 4into1 and I like it. It feels good but just to warn
you it is loud. I have experimented with a few after market exhaust systems
and V&H is the better quality product and the quietist w/o modification. It
will make your bike sound like a sport bike. If you find it to be too
Manual says 8~9 ft lbs. I use 110 inch pounds with a torque wrench ( inch pound
wrench is more sensitive for me)

There isn't a torque specified for the valve cover bolts. I use Lock-Tite
and wrench 'em down just past snug. You got to be careful not to break 'em
off or strip 'em out of course. Replace any bolts that look a bit rusty or
warped if possible. HotrodMamma.

Anyone know if there is an appropriate torque for the valve cover

Thanks!

I'd try the customer service line @ Honda / Canada and request one. They can
direct you to the source at very least. In the USA, these are available but for
the CB700sc.

One more question. Is there a recommended torque setting for the
valve cover bolts? I can't find one in the Clymer manual.
Thanks!

I doubt putting it down like you described would damage anything serious (I did
the same and only bent my brake lever on the handlebars, and mine went down
pretty hard). I would, however, keep an eye on the tire wear over the next
several thousand miles to see if it's wearing unevenly, which m
No. If there's no oil leaks and no other signs of damage just ride it like

I wondered that myself. I heard it from the Ironhead group that chromed oil
bags and such don't dissipate heat well so they avoid them. Must be true.

Well, that sucks! =). I think we can strip the chrome from the
surface where the gasket touches. It just looks so damn pretty! What
is it about shiny parts that are so damn irresistible? Thanks for the
tips. I will let you all know. I will also try to post pictures if I
can ever figure out ho
I ride a 1985 CB750SC Nighthawk S (Canadian bike). I would like to find out
where I can get an original Honda owners manual. I have searched around the
internet to no avail.
Thanks guys

Sunshine is right. It is hard to get a good seal on chrome.
You could take it back to the plater and have them strip the edges where the
gasket touches. It shouldn't cost much. If your plater says he can't do it
then he is weak sauce. Hit it with a resin pad to remove the chrome. OR get
a good
My buddy built a dirt bike around a nighthawk 750 engine and I have seen it
take beatings and keep ticking. Our engines are tough as nails. It is rare
that you would see any mechanical damage from dropping the bike... usually
just cosmetic. If it is running and handling fine then I wouldn't worry
