I agree, keep the battery on a tender to keep it charged and try to keep
the RPMs above 2500 while riding. Anything lower and the electrical system
drains the battery.

Makes sense. I had to get it to a shop for the lsat few things that needed
to be fixed on it, and the guy took a long to handle it. Battery may have
discharged during that time. I can pull it out and hook it up to the
trickle charger for a day and see if that helps.

Ahh, pretty sure I know what's going on.
Your bike is behaving normally. The problem is your battery discharging.
The manual flat out states that idling is not high enough rpm to be
net-positive charge to the battery. This perfectly matches your
description that after 10 minutes of being stopped

Thanks! I picked it up for a song. Ran okay, needed carb work and had rattle
can paint. Everything got stripped down to the metal and reworked. Frame got
powder coated. I'm moving in May so I may end up selling if I don't decide to
keep it... would probably part with it for about 3500. It probab

That '83 looks disgustingly nicer than mine, (which I have to sell soon).
You went with an '82 round headlight. I love my square one, how it performs
anyway.
I have to replace the reservoir glasses and should really replace the front

Hey guys,
Now that I'm riding again, now I'm dealing with a whole new set of issues,
lol.
Bike starts fine and rides good, it's just after about 10 mins of the
engine running, the bike like to spontaneously cut of at low rpms when
stopped and going really slow. instrument panel usualy goes out
That's not a bad idea.

A bit of background. I don't weigh enough to get the 83 hawk on its center
stand by pressing on the pedal part anymore, plus I now have a back injury
which means no lifting weight or straining, So I've found a very easy way
to get the bike up. I cut a long sloping wedge at one end of wood 14 in
