A quick read of the top Google results seem to indicate that the the chrome plating itself isn't too bad to strip (50\50 water and muriatic acid seems to work) but there is usually a much thicker layer of nickle under the chrome. To pull that off the steel requires some rather chemically chemicals

I have the same single-cable throttle issue and new parts in hand, but I'm reluctant to get into it, after reading up on it in the Clymer manual. It calls for dismantling half the bike -- rear wheel, fender, airbox and carbs. That seems excessive to me, so I'd be interested in hearing how you wor

I seem to recall POR 15 itself is not affected by heat. It's whatever top coat you decide to use that must be heat-proof. A call to their 800 number would confirm that. Their customer service is pretty decent. As I understand the push-pull thing, the function of one or the other cable (dunno

Been checkin' mine out too. Comparing the two side-by-side, they look identical. Cables look to be the same length, but the sheathing on one is about an inch shorter than the other, allowing about an inch or so more cable to show past the fitting. (part # 17910-MW3-A41). I'm guessing that's the

I wonder what the temp rating on their standard POR15 is, though? I think the prospective buyer for my Beetle is planning to use their tank sealer on it's fuel tank, and we're also talking putting down spray-in bedliner for it's floor, but I just can't see putting their standard stuff on hot exhaus

Yeah, to remove the airbox you need to pull it out through where the rear tire area. It seems like a lot of work, but it really isn't that bad. Takes about 45 minutes to get everything out on my 83 650, and you can clean everything up while you're in there. If you just want to get the bank of c

I'm not sure about the push and pull terminology, but there's a spring that returns the carbs to closed, if you only have one cable I would assume that you have the one that opens the carbs. The second cable is just a safety type thing from what I can see. I don't think you have to pull the complet
