You could just run a hypervisor and install windows xp as a virtual machine running on your linux machine. Another option of course is dual booting Just another problem of people in control wanting to wield their power at the underlings. Perhaps you could tell them how to save on windows

I have a number Linksys WRT54Gs router / WiFi units. Would like to turn off the DHCP, hence turning these boxes into a switch / access point for the network. From what I understand you can not do that with the standard firmware , but it is possible with Tomato. Am I on the right

One thing to note on the WRT54GL is that the ehternet switch is 10/100, in other words, it is NOT gigabit. This caught me by surprise and I had to do a bit of rewiring on my home network to take the router out of the main switch position and make it a gateway. Probably for the best anyway. I

dd-wrt gives you a lot more control over the ports, as does openwrt. From a hardware perspective, the wrt54g has a single ethernet port behind a tagging switch. Packets are tagged with the port # when they come in, and the kernel has the ability to then create virtual interfaces based on the
