Thanks to all. I have a list and a few downloads I gave to my wife for her
to evaluate.
Sofar she thinks Gimp is to complicated to teach even the basics in under
an hour. So she is going to work on others.

XP machine. Got it at work & use it some.

Paint.Net -- it's not photoshop, but it's great. Not sure if it's open
source, but it's free.
