Assuming it's IIS based, you could give IISPeak a look at it, is a
pretty easy tool to see what IIS is currently working on and what's
slowing it down: http://iispeek.com/

Yes, I only said that you can't get one with XP _PRO_ (Home or Linux is
what is generally available). This is because of a licensing
restriction by Microsoft, they do not want Pro available on these
Netbooks.

Well, that never came up. I planned to share the files out from our

Hi Paul,
Front end it's a GTA GnatBox GB-1000. Behind this, closest to the
internal
LAN we're using ISA 2004 as predominately an Internet proxy.

I don't suppose any of you have succeeded in installing Win7 onto a SCSI
disk attached to an Adaptec 29160 controller? Vista x64 is just dandy, it
has the adpu160m driver to run on that controller, and I thought Win7's
driver model was almost the same as Vista's, hrmph.
Phillip Partipilo
Given that controller is so old they likely removed support for it!
Adaptec doesn't even have a Vista driver so I presume your fsck'ed :(
I wouldn't hold your breath for a 7 driver.
Time for a new PC:)

Just wondering but what if you started with Vista x64 and then did an
upgrade to Windows 7? I know it would be a little more work doing two
installs but would it keep working or flag the SCSI controller as not
supported?

Tried that. It still shits the bed. Yeah the card is still old, but man,
it cost a lot of money back in the day :-) Why doesn't anybody make a
15,000 RPM SATA disk. Probably cheaper to just buy a SSD instead of another
SCSI card.

Jupiter,
Why doesn't anybody make a 15,000 RPM SATA disk.
They do, they just add other features/design characteristics to an
obviously enterprise HW seeking customer and call the device a
SAS disc :)

Hopefully everyone south of the border has a happy and safe Fourth of July
tomorrow. I'm noticing the list is quiet already today so the party must be
starting early.

But in the enterprise, we need the manageability of Windows. It's not so much a
factor of cost or ease-of-use.

Right, but if you're going to flatten the netbook and install XP Pro on
it anyway, then it doesn't matter what OS it comes with out of the box.
And the Linux-based netbooks are often a little cheaper than the XP Home
based netbooks.

I know many States follow the lead of the Feds and today is a holiday but
some still work like me. I have to finish a file server migration and get a
new Backup server documented. I will put off the migration until Tuesday
and the boss was not happy with the replacement of the old backup server.

That is true of all holidays. Last year the University closed for the week
between Christmas and New Year. They were kind enough to give us several
weeks notice so that we could arrange for vacation time. That is still in
the courts though but betting is they will do the same this year.
