Actually its trying to guess the passwords of accounts, and invoke the lockout feature in AD, which is what you would be seeing as the residual. So MS08-067 is the fix, along with the autoplay/autorun being disabled. Symptoms * Account lockout policies being reset automatically. *

Could you create a new App Pool under the identity of the IUSR_COMPUTERNAME Account, or account which has the rights to the web applications directory ( Usually Read and Execute, but you might need more or less depending on the application) and make that web-app run under the new Web Application
