Folks,
When creating a dns zone (forward, reverse), should the start of authority be
the server itself onto which the zone is created, or should there always be a
single SOA? Looking at my 2008 book, it does not specify.

Scratch that, I guess. When it's created as an AD-integrated zone, the SOA
seems to be the local server once I enable updates and zone transfers on the
first server created.

You want your internal clients to use your DC's for their DNS, and your

see how ISA can resolve that on the internal DCs..

Um - that just sets the user's proxy server configuration. The problem here is
DNS resolution...
Either the proxy server needs to use different DNS servers, or where the
internal DNS record resolves to (DCs) needs to host a proxy server

and i can hit the server by typing abc.medaille.edu but the programmer needs to
know how he should program a link off the main (medaille.edu) web page to hit
the other server...

You need to use "absolute path statements" with your
links.
Make sure to include the http://somedomain.somedomain.com
in the link
