Matt, you have probably already looked at this but you should
have an Option in User Manager for Domains on the User, View, Policies,
EXCHANGE drop down options at the top for Exchange that lets you control that.
Run
User Manager-->
asks
who to assign the new mailbox, click on new user and user mangler will pop
up.

yup, but it has to be either NT or Win2k.
Run the install from the Exchange server CD, choose custom install, and just
install the Admin component (and Books Online would be good to have, too).
Then install the same Exchange service pack that you have on your server(s)

You
need to start the Exchange install from the exchange cd (on the remote

You

Yeah,
I do it all the time. Just make sure your user account has admin rights in the
exchange site and you can just install the admin client on your local machine
and connect to the server by enterting the netbios name of the exchange box you
want to administer.
Hope
this helps

go through setup but only install the admin option, then serivce pack it (yes,
the client pc) to the same level as the server
Assuming of course you're talking XCH 5.5 and an NT / 2000 workstation
(doubt you can do it from a 9x box...)
Ian-
yup
you will also need to have rights on the exchange org, site and server to
administer it remotely. The rights don't propagate down either. You can add the
rights in from the exchange admin program on the server
itself.
