Are you looking to keep it running 24/7 to do rules that are client-side
only? The rules setup on the mailbox that are server-side do not require
the client to be running to process. The rules you create will be marked
as Client Only in your rules list after you create the rule if they are
not
Oh isn't there something about DLL's, API files etc that Outlook installs
that will conflict generally wreck havoc with Exchange installation???
Really, you don't need to have a dedicated Outlook client setup to run rules
on a resource mailbox. Connect to the resource mailbox with a separate

I would highly recomend against either. You should not be checking mail on a
DC. and outlook should not be installed on an exchange server becuase of the
mapi.dll. If I were you and needed outlook to be running all the time I
would create a VM or get a old workstation.

The other suggestions are better, but worst case why not an old XP box that
hangs out in the server room?
Personally I hate relying on Outlook to handle e-mail routing of any kind...
