Does anyone have experience fitting gas shocks to a stock '48 3100? I purchased some recently but they are much shorter than the Monroe units I have on the truck now. Is there some sort of adjustment fitting that needs to be added to take up the slack? The shocks I purchased look to be the corre

It seems like I used Gabriel red riders on my '49 with shock towers off a '52 and lower mounting as well. Adapters can be got from different vendors. May use them on my current '49 which is now running DA shocks, the heavy duty type. Lever action is correct for a '49 but for actual driving, s

I switched just the housing. I wasn't sure if that was clear or not. front and rear gaskets and took the opportunity to change rear axle wheel seals too. Hardest part was gettin the backing plate between the rear leaf spring and frame. Did it without removing springs but later had to remove and

Finally got my father-in-law's '53 Chevy 1/2 ton up here to Kodiak Island, Ak and into the shop. Great winter project. First time into something like this. Suspect that more than one winter will be involved. Lots of problems getting parts and material, etc. Looking forward to some good advice
