not a bug per se. The second we called an enhancement.
Would you consider including these in the 4.0.1
I would really prefer not to. This commit makes additions to the API
vector, which also revs the API vector version numbers. That also
means the documentation for this APIs needs to be written, which has
not been done yet. I would really like this to remain just a bug fix
release, as indicated

Shouldn't the 4.0.1 docs have been branched from the 4.0.0 release
docs? Since there are no real changes in the bug fix, the docs should
