I'm experiencing some difficulty with the latest test version of
OpenSound (4.0 build 156) - when playing media files, the music is
crackly and stuttery - is there anyone out there who can help me with
this predicament?

So, unless I am really wrong, it looks like the bug
has been silently fixed.
Update:
I have been able to boot without the work around:
- b37 64-bit
- b37 32-bit
But:
- failsafe does not boot whithout the work around
- In debug mode I hit the problem
If someone does understand something...
what I need to install and use the on-board lan in an Asus A7V8X-X, in
the OpenSolaris build 36?
What PCI devices are reported when you run /usr/X11/bin/scanpci as user
root?

these fields might mean and what their unit might be. Unfortunately the units
aren't documented anywhere, are they?
biostats is probably the statistics for the ddi I/O buffers of Solaris that are
accessible

The easiest way as I found out is to try the

Did you try XMMS in Open Sound System plugin mode?
Sometimes, a reboot may help because if the audio chip was initialized by a
different driver then it could be in a state OSS doesn't recognize as
baseline.
