I don't understand something:
1.why are you taking me with legal issues?
2.why opensolaris contributors or employees usually fight sun employees?
I've started this thread so i could say its about my problems not yours(ken

in the mean time i've solved the problem with the network card

Yes! Indeed, I would argue that Solaris is the OS with the most mature
and scalable MT implementation - period.
Here are just a few of the Solaris multithreads milestones ...

user threads library - Solaris 2.2, May 1993
Pthreads library - Solaris 2.5

Solaris ships with an mp3 decoder, since Sun has license to

Hi everybody,
I am new in Solaris so the question may seem naive. Does
opensolaris -at least the latest release- exploits the benefits from the T1
opensparc processor?
Cheers,
Theo.

Thanks Aubrey,
The resulting .dsl does indeed contain _PSS. I'm attaching the resulting file
to the first message.
So it seems I'm hitting the bug Mark and you mentioned. Thanks to everyone for
helping :)

Thanks Mark,
There are indeed aliases, but they only have _PDC and _OSC methods defined
(i.e. _PSS is missing) (I've attached the .dsl to my first post)
Is there any more info I could provide ?

Sorry for the typo. 2) should be

It's a possibility that you are hitting:
CR 6605212 SpeedStep can't find _PSS for Processor declared by Alias
Can you check to see if you have an Alias defined for P001 in one of
your *.dsl files? If so, then that is the problem and it is fixed in b77.

My configuration is: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 + MSI P965 Platinum (SpeedStep
support enabled),
the latter is on the latest bios firmware, running OpenSolaris b75
I'm getting "cpu_acpi: _PSS package not found", so SpeedStep is not being
enabled by OpenSolaris.
According to MSI, this motherboard su

Hi
Much depends on the code. If the code is cleanly written, and is already ported
to several platforms, then a port from Solaris SPARC to Solaris x86 should be
straightforward.
If the code does a lot of low level binary manipulations, and hasn't already
been ported (in particular to a little

Could anyone point me there?
