If there is plan to integrate IPS into SX, any projected build for that?

I'd figure that no plans have been made and the people involved in such
decisions are

hey Shawn this promise was made over a year ago by Jonathan Schwartz and

they clearly said they are strongly considering it and there has been no

I believe the plan is to discontinue SXCE as soon as Indiana contains
everything available in SXCE (like Jumpstart, text based installer, etc.)

Hi,
yesterday I installed OpenSolaris 2008.05. It works perfectly, but I'm missing
the huge number of packages available for Linux distributions like Ubuntu or
Debian. E.g., I need Ruby with sqlite support. On a Debian or Ubuntu system
(with compilers installed), I could do this:

The GPL is crap, I hope to god it doesn't get used. Corporations violate it all
the time, developers don't bother to read it, and it's an awful license to use
if you want to feed yourself with your efforts.
It mixes politics with business for people with too little balls to act
politically.
That's pretty impressive, who's the manufacturer?
Thanks,
Tim

It's out of date and appears unmaintained. Which is not surprising, but at this
point is annoying given there seems to be some effort to dumb down the OS for
the linux crowd. I can not figure out if SXDE is being discontinued for some

If i wanted to run Linux, I would. Solaris performs better, is actually
standards compliant, and gets tested well. I can't say that I am seeing the

Tim,
Obviously you aren't too happy with the path being taken by Indiana and noone
wants to see your opinion excluded around here. The mainline Sun Solaris stuff
is well and truly out of the hands of this community, however Indiana belongs
to this community so of course your feedback to the

Indiana will replace SXDE. Indiana is still Solaris, the only difference is
that it has a fancy new installer, ZFS boot and the GNU _userland tools_ set at
the beginning of the PATH env variable (all other variants are still there).
It's the tools, nothing more, there's no glibc6 or anything

It is possible for any biweekely SXCE Build to run the developer tools

In fact its what I ususally do , as the SXDE installer is too dumb to be
usefull. ( apologies to Dave ) One assumes the the CAIMAN
