Personally I am not sure if Oracle is better than IBM. If I has to pick, Cisco
is the top choice.
If his newbe experience is close to my own, he has lost windows entirely. He
could have tried to install opensolaris.com. So the question could be how do
you keep that from hogging the entire disk? SXCE has no problem honoring
partitions but they need to be primary not logical.

In my effort to get comfortable with opensolaris I've not been able to
find gvim. I've installed the aap version but it will only compile
without GUI (-X11), even after editing the configure options in vim/
src/config.arg. So where do I find a package for gvim, if one exists?

Try using the command line. Just unzip create a few links in opt and set your
