Today Simon Sun in Beijing is making an OpenSolaris Sparc Logical
Domain (LDOM) server available in the test farm where OpenSolaris
LDOMs can be reserved for development and testing. The LDOMs start
with the OpenSolaris 2009.06 release pre-installed, but may be

Hi Team
I m new to openSolaris and installed it using a live CD 2008.05.
i found it to be quite similar to RedHat Linux but still many things are
different.
though i m loving it.
i gave a command (passwd -d) on the bash shell with the root's role, as i dont
like to be prompted for passwd again
Sometime ago I encouraged the opensolaris community to consider launching an
apps store to act as a catalyst for application development on the platform
aimed at the small to midsize ISV and developers. Ubantu have also realised the
issues of a proprietory software community on a free
Hello.
I understand your point, but I thought that OpenSolaris for Sun is much
more like Fedora for Red Hat. Fedora may be not very stable. And you
know, even release versions of OpenSolaris are sometimes quite
incomplete or buggy (e.g. we faced ioat driver bug which crashed system
several times

Is this logging in as root and using the right mouse button on the desktop
to choose Open Terminal?
Well StarOffice has to be patched to Update 2 and then run twice and it is
fine, but still a no-go when trying to patch with Update 3 it fails zones
attributes check.
Also Nimbus is a Fugly theme is I ever saw one. Hell the Hi-Tech theme from Mac
OS 8.5 Beta was Fugly but tons better and alot

What problem are you trying to solve with the updates?
9.0.1 (update 1) in b125 does not crash for me on
Updating to U2 fixed the crash for me, under root, I did not try it under a
normal user because I don't normally work under a user account. A stock install
of b125 crashed StarOffice on every run. patch 3 is still fubar with the zones
attributes check fail. I always like to patch my software if

I thought I read a while back that it would be 126. Is that still the plan?

OpenSolaris is more unstable than Solaris 10. For production, Solaris 10 is
recommended.
There is a program that opens up a SunRay login window on WindowsXP. So you can
use an old WinXP computer as a SunRay client. That program is in the new SunRay
Server Software that will soon be available.

I'd like to install perl-5.10.1 but even though I am setup to install
pkgs from `dev' there appears to be no pkg for perl 5.10.
Is there no repo that has perl 5.10?
Do I need to just compile it myself outside pkg?
If that is the case does anyone have a howto or some
pointers... about doing that?

The /dev repo does if you're on a recent enough build, though it's 5.10.0,
not 5.10.1:
