In a few weeks at Fry's I can retry the Toshiba A605-P210 on display with the
CD media. I am on

I need the Toshiba A605, because it has Win, the battery life that LP/LV/WLED
affords, the small size, and it's 1/2 the cost of the Toshiba R600.
Why, pro camera s/w uses Win/Mac not Linux/OpenSolaris. I travel alot with big

I think the M10 is a great value system, especially when you look at the
cost of the included Sun support, also the fact that you know that Sun folk
are using this system themselves which means that you'll be very well
supported in the future.
It's a shame that this isn't yet available in Australi
To be honest. I'm not really a big fan of the A605 or the R600, instead I
recommend forgetting about the R600 / A605 and going for the Toshiba Tecra M-10
that you can get with OpenSolaris pre-installed here:

The Toshiba R600 is $1600 with OpenSolaris. If you shop around you
can buy a Toshiba A605 for $800. That's alot of sushi ;-) The specs

Then I'll look for a R600 Win factory refurb that pops up for sale periodically
on eBay for I recall $1050-1100. I see the U305, and U205 are on BigAdmin which
I don't own. Until then I''ll have to use Ubuntu 9.04 which isn't so bad with
Gnome.

Anyone boot successfully OpenSolaris on Toshiba A605 notebook ?
That's the 3.2 lb version of the 2.5 lb Toshiba R600 that is sold with
OpenSolaris. But the A605 is 1/2 the price. Searching around, the A605 and R500
share the same PDF manual. BigAdmin does not list the A605. I went to Fry's and
