I sucessfully installed ss-dev, mySQL-5 and OSOLvpanel-mysql.
I also updated the system because of the other problem and re-booted.
Now, for some reason, I don't see a way to start either C++ IDE or mySQL GUI
from GNOME menu or panel.

I just installed OpenSolaris. Now I would like to install subversion and
mySQL.
However, when opening the repository, I couldn't find both those packets.
Do I have to install it from the source?

After the installation on the desktop I see the icon that says: Add More
Software. I was talking about this.
If I understand you correctly you are talking about this:
Open console window and manually run those 2 commands under the root.
Am I right?

You may want SUNWmysql51 which is v5.1.30. SUNWmysql is v4.0.24.

and debugger. AFAIK, NetBeans is for the JAVA development...
BTW what is the name of the debugger under OpenSolaris? It's not gdb, right?
