It wasn't the read only embulum --that light gray ... this was a soldid
(glossy) black box with a white padlock in.
Afte rfinding permissions that you led me to i sorted it out

Hi
I'm not sure what is getting in the way. I work as "normal" user and files on
Pen drive are never a problem. A "lock" only means that a file attribute is
"read-only" and generally just forcing it will delete it.
If you have a file that you just can't delete, can you provide the following:

Maybe
You are over-complicating things, all you need to do is fire up the Package
Manager and install the OpenOffice package, or from the command line you can do
this:
$ pfexec pkg install openoffice
That's it...
