As I just built my new OSOL system, here is what I got:
Intel i7-860
Asus P7P55D
4 GB RAM
One 750 GB Seagate HD with Windows and data, three of the same HDs for a raidz1
zpool with OSOL. When copying the data from ntfs into my pool using ntfs-3g I
averaged about 19 MB/s.
But much more interesti
All NTFS solutions I tried, are extremely slow. Like 5MB/sec or so. What read
and write speeds do you get?

The package I was using is ASntfs-3g-2009.4.4 from the sunfreepacks.com
website, which contains the ntfs-3g package, SUNWfusefs
It's probably just a typo, but I noticed that you had to run pfexec
mount -t ntfs-3g (long time since I've run that command, I may be
slightly wrong. Either -t or -F, check the man page).
Also, try mkdir a directory in /mnt that you can then use as a

I just tried this on OpenSolaris 2009.06 and it simply doesn't work. The system
hangs and reboots when I try, does anyone know what's wrong?
First it complained that I don't have permissions even though I used pfexec,

I am curious as to why these packages aren't in the opensolaris IPS
repositories, is it due to patent concerns or just lack of interest on the part
of Sun?

Many, if not most, of us still have this misconception that OpenSolaris does
not write on, or even read from, NTFS partitions. This, of course, is not true.
To enable r/w of NTFS partitions, simply download the ASntfs-3g-1.5012 tar.gz
file (or an update thereof) from www.sunfreepacks.com , the
