An update, I just ran sax2 and selected change the configuration.
Intel 945GM adapter is discovered, it suggested I use 1440 x 900 24bit
depth, I chose save and test.
When the test screen came up it advised me that screen 0 was 1024 x 768 48 Hz.
I exited and restarted the sax2 and it failed and

Maybe you better post three sections of your xorg.conf file so someone
can suggest what next:
Monitor
Screen
Device
Also, any (EE) lines from /var/log/Xorg.0.log should be instructive.
SaX.log might also be helpful.
