are presently using in our greenhouse, in addition to particulate & charcoal
filters on the r.o. line, charcoal filters on the city

I hear that in many places now, municipalities use a chlorine chemical that
does not get removed from the water by letting the water sit overnight. So it
may not apply in all cases, but I am no chemist.
