Thanks Jennifer, What a great example. IWhat I took from the article was that the HOV lane was already in place, to stimulate the self-organisation. So in other aspects of life and society are there things we can put in place that stimulate self-organisation. The flip-side is whether 'slugging'

Slugs selforganize, I love it. When in LA decades ago, one of the absurd things that happened around HOV on the local freeways was placing a life-size dummy on the back seat. In Berlin, I have seen self-organisation not driven by money or time saved in traffic context during local public transport
