code. OTRS is easy to write add-ons for because it's so object oriented.

because it's cleaner in the aliases files. There are simpler ways of
configuring mail clients, but we found this the cleanest for us as the OTRS box
already had Postfix on it.

There's no need to do this - just use the Admin-Responses to create your new
response and attach it to the required queues with Responses-Queue. Unless
I'm misunderstanding your requirement?
