What a brilliant letter, it has given me plenty of
food for thought, and states what a lot of us feel but can't put into words.
Well done Trish

Thank you to all who replied about the cord around
the neck query of mine. Now I have another question, why is it sometimes called
the nuchal cord? I have heard of the nuchal fold, but only very occasionally
is the term nuchal cord used.

before the
shoulders are born?
I feel that if there is no obvious obstruction of
labour and there are signs of progress, ie restitution, the shoulders follow the
head etc.then we should probably not bother about removing the cord, what
do others think?
Thanks, Sheena Johnson

Interestingly, even though I trained in England in

Just heard from Lynley that the ultrasound showed a dilated ureter but no
blockage to the kidney. He has to have a cystoscopy when he is a month old
in Ballarat which is 2 and a half hours away!
He also has to stay on antibiotics, which he hates, flucloxacillin is one of
the worst
anyway, and the head restituted. It was a bit of a pull to get the
shoulder out. Lynley was in an upright crouch with her arms over two people,
great position! Sorry this is a bit muddled, am at the end of third term and
pretty tired!!

not a very naturopathic solution, but when this happened to me, years ago
