cd rom skipping

When I try to play a dvd, I hear skipping. The dvds are new so it can't be that. I tried using one of those discs with the brushes to clean the cd rom but I still have the same problem. It was suggested to me that I may need to just buy a new cd rom. What do you all think? Thanks.

Hi sharon, Before you break down and spend cash on a new rom burner, you should try using a laser lens cleaner on it. It will save you a bunch of headaches and should take care of the skipping problem. You can grab one from radio shack, or the electronics department of any store like best

I sometimes worry that a laser lens cleaner might not be safe in a cd or DVD computer drive because they spin so fast. Most drives run at normal speed when a standard music cd is running and I think the cleaners look like an audio disk to the player. However, I had a plugin for Winamp that
