Adrian,
Lowering the bit-rate wil not improve the situation. There may be a
number of reasons why you are hearing distortion, and changint the
bit-rate will not fix this.
When you say distortion, do you mean over mudulation, or are you
hearing artifacts in the audio?

lets go back to something else here Live Who encoded them and what were the
input levels? Lowering
either the bit rate or sampling frequency would only further degrade the file
or files.

I have a feeling it is youtube, the audio possibly isn't too
clear, if you want to hear them, search for guns and roses
and Elton john bohemian rhapsody, not a great recording.

unfortunately if you get a video from Joe six-pack the quality is going to vary
best suggestion look

Dreadful audio though, but a good guitar solo, reckon he liked the
original. Brian may would have been pleased to hear his work so
expertly executed.
Drums are high in the mix as well, huge conpression all over the
place, I'd look for a better version if
well all I know is that the custom settings have both a start time and an
end time. and there are other options like sound detection to. Now I don't
know how reliable any of that is as I don't use those features. In fact
sense I got my ls 100 I don't use the pocket for recording much at all. I
