If it looks like a slightly larger version of an RCA plug then it's possibly a PL259 connector that was used on antenna cables. Older versions of the plug have the rounded part looking like the ribs of an umbrella. If it is a PL259 connector then you will probably need someone who is handy

Auxillery jacks are input only. they are there in case you wish to run something like a second tape deck or cd player through the system. You could for instance run a line from your speaker out on your computer to the auxillery and hav the audio from the computer go through the stereo.
