Greetings, Assuming you are using GW V5.57 and not the beta V6, the keystroke is control with q but be aware, you must put a cue mark in at the very start of the file before any otheres else GW won't see any cue points, afterall, it needs to know where track 001 is to begin.

It seems like a USB problem because you say when JFW stops you can't get portable NVDA to work, but you can still save your GoldWave stuff. So your machine isn't frozen. You just can't get USB to function. Until you solve it, perhaps you could install NVDA rather than trying to use it on a flash
