Thanks Mark! I’ve found the only way to have any hope of catching the correct
focus in many cases is to “machine-gun it”, luckily if I set the ringflash to
1/128th power there is no recycle time so I can shoot at the max frame rate and
move (aka wobble!) focus through the image….

Hi PDML,
One the advice of Johan
(http://extreme-macro.co.uk/raynox-adapter-techniques/) I’ve been
investigating the use of Raynox lenses for greater than 1:1 macro
work, results here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskgYxHbt
I’ve been using the DCR-250 on the Sigma 180mm macro with the Viltrox
JY-670 Ring

Hi Igor (and PDML),
This is an Ensign Wasp (Family: Evaniidae), probably in the genus Evania
- ID confirmed by my Hymenopterist colleague at the Natural History Museum.
More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evaniidae
All the best,

Now that I have a nice sharp F* 300mm (thanks again Chris!), I was
wondering if anyone has thoughts or experience in extending its reach
by attaching a Q series body to a similar length lens, bringing the
lens up to an equivalent of a 1300-1600mm lens on a 35mm body - photo
examples would be

Bob beat me to it - here's my record of a pleasant day.
PDML lurker Ben Price relieved me of my F* 300 4.5. I'm pleased that
it's going to a good home
