I have the manual Tokina 300 2.8 and it is an excellent lens. Sharp, nice bokeh, with smooth and fast manual focusing. And it works acceptably well with the Pentax 1.7 AF convertor as long as you prefocus somewhere in the ballpark of final focus range. One note: it DOES NOT work with the

I usually keep a Bogen quick release plate on both the bottom and side tripod screws of my 645. Yes, and when you want to shoot a horizontal and a verticle of the same subject you can unmount and remount the camera on the tripod rather going to the trouble of tilting the head ninety degrees.
